Belarusian pavilion at Dubai Expo to cover 1,200 square meters

MINSK, 21 March (BelTA) – The Belarusian pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai will span an area of 1,200 square meters, Yevgeny Lazarev, Senior Counselor of the Directorate for Coordination of Foreign Economic Activity at the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said on 21 March, BelTA has learned.

“Preparations for Expo 2020 started in 2016. Two years ago our government was among the first to confirm participation in this expo. This helped us choose one of the best sections in terms of location to build a pavilion. Our neighbors will be such big-name exhibitors as Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Monaco, and Spain,” Yevgeny Lazarev noted.

Such a neighborhood impies certain obligations for Belarus, he emphasized. “This is a great responsibility because our exhibition must be as good as the neighboring ones,” he added.

The 1,200-square-meter Belarusian exhibition at Expo 2020 Dubai will be larger than the country's national pavilions in Astana and Milan. “The organizers allow building four-floor pavilions, including a 15-meter-high top storey. Thus, the total height of our Dubai pavilion will be comparable to that of a seven-storey building. This is quite a large and spacious facility with enough room for a great number of exhibits that could tell a lot about Belarus,” Yevgeny Lazarev clarified.

Belarus has been participating in the World Expos since 2010 when the event was held in Shanghai, China. “Our pavilions are popular among the visitors. Although we have been taking part in such expos for a short time, we have already come into the spotlight. In late 2017, Belarus was elected to the Executive Committee of the International Exhibitions Bureau, the body in charge of organizing and holding the World Expos. The committee comprises eleven more countries. This is an honor and a great responsibility for our country,” Yevgeny Lazarev summarized.

Expo 2020 will take place in Dubai, UAE from October 2020 to April 2021. The expo is expected to host around 180 countries and from 25 to 30 million visitors.
