GOMEL, 9 March (BelTA) – The oil industry research institute BelNIPIneft has finished processing seismic survey data in India. The data is being interpreted now, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian industrial group Belorusneft, the mother company of BelNIPIneft.
The work in the Digboi oil field is stipulated by the contract on providing engineering and consulting services that Belorusneft and the state-run company Oil India signed in September 2016. In line with the agreement the Belarusian company is supposed to provide a package of services to rehabilitate the Digboi oil field in the north of the State of Assam where the first oil well in Asia was drilled in 1889. The Digboi oil field was the largest oil field in India for a long time, however, it is out of use for now.
The project to rehabilitate the Digboi oil field will take 12 stages. Initially seismic survey data will be processed and interpreted. Geological and hydrodynamic models will be compiled. At the same time BelNIPIneft specialists will come up with recipes and reagents for increasing oil recovery and reducing water intrusion. After that recommendations and an action program to intensify oil recovery will be worked out. Engineering support for oil extraction work will be provided.
The oil industry research institute BelNIPIneft was established in 1967. It has been part of the industrial group Belorusneft since 1991. The institute specializes in searching for and surveying hydrocarbon deposits, processing and interpretation of surface seismology and borehole seismology data, preparations for prospecting drilling into promising structures, geological and geophysical support for well drilling operations, assessment of oil and natural gas reserves. The institute also offers other services that Belorusneft needs.
