Belarusian MPs ratify agreement on promoting mutual trade with Turkey

MINSK, 17 May (BelTA) – Belarusian MPs ratified an intergovernmental agreement with Turkey on promoting mutual trade on 17 May, BelTA has learned.

Presenting the document, Chairman of the State Customs Committee Yuri Senko said that the agreement on the promotion of mutual trade was signed in Minsk on 11 November 2016. It helps raise the efficiency and reduce the time of customs control procedures. It will have a positive impact on the trade between Belarus and Turkey.

The system of promoting mutual trade relies on the exchange of important information regarding the movement of goods and transport vehicles. It means that the participants of foreign economic operations who will provide reliable information on transported goods will get priority attention in border checkpoints as compared to the companies that are not involved in this procedure.

At the session the MPs also ratified a protocol on mutual supplies between the governments of Belarus and Cuba as of 24 June 2014. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Valentin Rybakov explained that the agreement aims to intensify trade and economic cooperation in the manufacturing sector, agriculture, and healthcare, create corresponding conditions for closer economic cooperation between Belarusian and Cuban business entities. The enforcement of the protocol to the abovementioned agreement will help the parties expand the list of delivered goods and promptly solve emerging issues regarding the shipment of agricultural and industrial equipment, spare parts to Cuba and high-efficiency Cuban-made medications to Belarus.

When answering the question of MP Alexei Sokol, Valentin Rybakov said that there is a number of promising cooperation avenues for Belarus and Cuba. These include industrial cooperation in mechanical engineering, the delivery of complex products, military and technical cooperation.
