MINSK, 21 April (BelTA) – The Belarusian Justice Ministry is considering the possibility of allowing Belarusian companies and self-employed businessmen to register only via digital channels. Justice Minister Oleg Slizhevsky made the relevant statement as he presented Belarus president decree No.2 in the upper chamber of the Belarusian parliament on 21 April, BelTA has learned. The decree is designed to adjust business start and shutdown procedures.
Asked about prospects of further simplification of the business registration procedure, Oleg Slizhevsky said that the Justice Ministry is considering allowing registration purely via digital channels or registration via typical certificates of incorporation.
The official said that Belarusian laws already allow registering legal persons and self-employed businessmen via digital channels. The practice is not very popular though but it may change as more and more Belarusian businessmen embrace digital signatures. Business registration using hardcopy documents may be phased out in Belarus with time, the justice minister noted.
Speaking about presidential decree No.2, Oleg Slizhevsky remarked it represents another step meant to simplify conditions for running a business in Belarus. Most of the clauses of the document will come into force on 3 September. If the registrant opts for it, the registering agency will send information to banks for opening the current account without the registrant having to see to this detail.
