Belarusian food products in great demand in Georgia

TBILISI, 20 November (BelTA) - Belarusian food products are in great demand in Georgia, counselor of the Belarusian Embassy in Georgia Andrei Sokolov told BelTA ahead of the launch of the Made in Belarus exposition at Agro Food Drink Tech Expo in Tbilisi (Georgia).

“In Tbilisi there are six food stores selling Belarusian products which enjoy a very high level of trust among local customers. Our butter and sour cream revive the taste of childhood. So do meat products. Everything that relates to food products is highly appreciated here,” Andrei Sokolov noted.

The range of Belarusian food products on the Georgian market is wide enough. Especially popular with locals are dairy products such as butter, milk, sour cream, cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt. Over the last two years the sales have grown considerably. Seeing the demand, Georgian dealers announced intention to increase the network to 25 stores.

A large delegation of Belarusian enterprises from different regions of Belarus is now in Tbilisi. The delegation includes representatives of 10 enterprises, including the confectionery industry. According to Andrei Sokolov, zephyr and fruit candy produced by OAO Krasny Pischevik are very popular with Georgian customers. “There is no doubt that after the expo the company will find new reliable partners,” Andrei Sokolov noted.

Oksana Sysoy, the acting head of marketing at Krasny Pischevik, noted that the company has exhibited its products in Georgia for the second time. “We sell our sweets in Batumi, they are in good demand. At first the distributor purchased a very small batch to assess the sale prospects. It sold out so quickly that we are already preparing a second delivery. In addition, we are preparing the products for shipment to Tbilisi,” Oksana Sysoy noted.

Pinsk Meat Packing Plant, which is also a participant of the expo, has been cooperating with Georgia since June 2017. The Belarusian plant sells 150 descriptions of its products to Georgia. “Expo visitors praise the quality of our products. We hope to find partners not only in Tbilisi. For example, we are interested in Batumi,” head of the plant's laboratory Natalia Andreyuk said.

The exhibition also displays the technical potential of Gomselmash grain and fodder harvesters Palesse. According to Andrei Sokolov, the machinery is in great demand for its reliability and price, which is much lower than that of competitors.

Agro Food Drink Tech Expo is held in Tbilisi on 20-22 November. The exposition of Belarusian producers is organized by Belinterexpo of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with the Belarusian embassy in Georgia.

According to Deputy Director of Belinterexpo Galina Ulasik, the exposition features about 60 companies from different countries, including Ukraine, Russia, the UK, and the Netherlands.
