Belarusian Finance Ministry disproves reports of respite on payments for Russian loans

MOSCOW, 2 October (BelTA) – The Belarusian Finance Ministry has disproved mass media reports that stated that Russia would give Belarus a respite on payments for loans till 2016, BelTA has learned.

Representatives of the Belarusian Finance Ministry have stated that the deferment or rescheduling of Belarus' payments for current loans till 2016 was not discussed during the session of the Council of Ministers of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in Moscow on 29 September.

Mass media reported earlier this week that Russia would give Belarus a respite on payments for current loans till 2016. The relevant information was gleaned from the documents prepared for the meeting of representatives of the Belarusian and Russian governments. Mass media also stated that the relevant agreement had been reached.

An agreement on lending $110 million loan to Belarus was signed in March 2015. Another agreement on lending $760 million to Belarus was signed in July 2015.
