Belarusian enterprise to make agricultural machines in Russia's Kaluga Oblast

MOSCOW, 23 August (BelTA) – A Belarusian enterprise to make agricultural machines will be established in Kaluga Oblast, Russia, the press service of the Embassy of Belarus in Russia told BelTA.

A Belarusian delegation led by Deputy Industry Minister Dmitry Korchik arrived in Kaluga Oblast on 23 August on a working visit. The purpose of the visit is to study the region's industrial and agricultural potential and discuss the organization of the joint production of agricultural machines.

During negotiations Kaluga Oblast Agriculture Minister Leonid Gromov mentioned positive dynamics in the development of relations between Kaluga Oblast and Belarus. In 2014 the Belarusian government and the Kaluga Oblast government signed an agreement on trade, economic, scientific, technical, and cultural cooperation. Interregional agreements on long-term cooperation have been signed with Grodno Oblast, Gomel Oblast, and Mogilev Oblast. Belarusian-Russian joint ventures operate in the Russian region.

Dmitry Korchik said that plans have been made to use an industrial site in Kaluga Oblast to set up an enterprise to make agricultural machines that will be primarily sold on the Russian market. The project will be implemented in association with companies of the local agricultural cluster. “First of all, the enterprise will make trailed and mounted equipment. This kind of merchandise is in demand not only in Kaluga Oblast but in central Russia, too,” said Dmitry Korchik.

In turn, Leonid Gromov said that the region's demand for modern drying equipment rises in parallel with the growing area under crops. “Today we are going to discuss the concept of planned production, localization level, the choice and volume of products,” explained the Kaluga Oblast Agriculture Minister. He said he was confident that the joint venture will make import-substituting machines, including forage harvesters, mowers, rakes and so on.

While in Kaluga Oblast the Belarusian delegation also visited a number of infrastructural projects of the region, including the industrial park Grabtsevo and the special economic zone Kaluga.
