Belarusian Energy Ministry eager to increase export by at least 5.7% in 2018

MINSK, 5 March (BelTA) – In 2018 the Belarusian Energy Ministry intends to increase the export of merchandise and services by at least 5.7%, the ministry's press service told BelTA.

In 2017 export by the Energy Ministry's enterprises totaled 111.9% as against 2016 or some $275.6 million in monetary terms. The export of services rose by 12.1%, with the merchandise export up by 11.7%. Last year's foreign trade dynamics is expected to continue into this year. Plans have been made to increase the export of merchandise and services by 5.7% in 2018 as the key performance indicator.

As part of the efforts to diversify target markets work continued in 2017 on possible ways for Energy Ministry enterprises to participate in power engineering projects in the CIS states, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Delegations of Belarusian energy companies visited Russia, Ukraine, the Baltic states, Czechia, China, Sudan, and other countries. Meetings and negotiations were held with representatives of the companies, which were interested in advancing and invigorating cooperation with Belarus in power engineering.
