GOMEL, 18 May (BelTA) – The Belarusian confectionery Spartak will expand its market presence in China by signing a contract for the supply of products with Zhengzhou Hub Development and Construction Company from China's Henan Province, BelTA learned from Spartak's Director General Oleg Zhidkov.
According to the source, the company has been working hard since 2016 to penetrate the Chinese market in order to diversify export and sell merchandise to Chinese consumers. The first contract was signed with a company from the city of Harbin in 2016. As a result, in October-December 2016 Spartak shipped over 130 tonnes of merchandise worth over $500,000 to China. Chocolate sweets accounted for half of the figure. Caramel, biscuits, and waffles made up the rest.
In 2016 Spartak also opened a proprietary department in a shop in Harbin with assistance of the Chinese partner. Apart from that, Spartak's products have been certified for compliance with Chinese regulations and logistics routes have been optimized.
BelTA has been told that Chinese consumers are interested in Spartak confectionery products. “In turn, we are going to try to build up cooperation with the Chinese side and regularly deliver sufficient volumes of products to satisfy the demand,” noted Oleg Zhidkov.
The confectionery factory Spartak was founded in 1924. It is one of the largest producers of confectionery products and semi-finished products in Belarus. It makes about 350 confectionery products, including products with medicinal properties.
