Belarusian-Chinese car venture BelGee eager to sell 700 cars per month in Russia till 2019

MINSK, 17 September (BelTA) – The Belarusian-Chinese car manufacturer BelGee intends to ship 700 cars per month to Russia till the end of the year, BelTA learned from BelGee Acting Director General Gennady Svidersky on 14 September.

The BelGee CEO said: “If we talk about the market right now, we sell two cars to Russia and keep one for Belarus. I think as the turnout grows higher in the future, [every] four cars will be exported while one car will stay in the country. Till the end of the year we are going to sell 700 cars per month to Russia.”

Gennady Svidersky also talked about plans to expand export geography. “Initially the project was Russian-Belarusian, with some of the output shipped to Russia and some sold in Belarus. But after negotiations with Chinese partners our strategy has changed a bit. Now we can promote our cars to Lithuania, Latvia, Ukraine, and Moldova. In other words, to the nearby countries. We are already in negotiations with several companies, seeking distributors. We will spend the next year preparing the program. I think we can position ourselves as a company that works for the European Union and Eastern Europe,” noted the BelGee acting director general.

BelGee intends to make 1,000 cars per month in September-October and rack up the output later on. The company intends to make a total of about 9,000 cars this year.
