Belarusian Belmedpreparaty to make Pfizer medications

MINSK, 21 March (BelTA) – Pfizer, one of the world's premier biopharmaceutical companies, intends to start making medications using facilities of the Belarusian pharmaceutical company Belmedpreparaty, BelTA learned from Yelena Litvinova, Head of Belmedpreparaty's Innovative Development Office.

According to the source, Pfizer inspectors visited Belmedpreparaty recently to explore possible cooperation options. As part of one cooperation scheme Belmedpreparaty can make medications that will be sold in European countries.

Yelena Litvinova also mentioned joint projects involving Cuban pharmaceutical companies. The delivery of an original drug for treating diabetic foot — a grave complication of pancreatic diabetes — to healthcare institutions has been arranged within the framework of one such project.

Belarusian pharmaceutical companies are also vigorously exploring possible partnership options with other prominent international companies, including in India, added Yelena Litvinova.
