Belarusian BelAZ to sell large batch of haul trucks to Russian Apatit

MINSK, 12 September (BelTA) – The Belarusian automobile engineering company BelAZ has won a tender to sell a large batch of haul trucks to the Kirovsk branch of AO Apatit in Murmansk Oblast, Russia, BelTA learned from BelAZ Director General Piotr Parkhomchik on 12 September.

The Belarusian company will have to ship 50 haul trucks over the course of the next three years. Those are trucks with the carrying capacity of 136 tonnes and 180 tonnes. The first few vehicles will be shipped this year. “A group of our specialists has already left for the city of Apatity where the delivery of the first set consisting of three haul trucks (a tractor, a loader, and a bulldozer) will be discussed,” Piotr Parkhomchik said. In his words, the vehicles the Russian company will get can be upgraded later on. The vehicles can be converted to robot driving.

The contract also provides for commissioning two haul trucks that use mixed fuel (diesel/natural gas) in Q3-Q4 2019, Piotr Parkhomchik added.

Based in Zhodino, Minsk Oblast, the public joint-stock company (OAO) BelAZ is the world's leading manufacturer of haul trucks with a large carrying capacity and an extremely large carrying capacity. The company also makes other kinds of heavy transport vehicles for the mining industry and the civil engineering industry.

BelAZ products were shipped to 25 countries across the globe in January-July 2019. Large-capacity vehicles (haul trucks and utility vehicles) accounted for 67.9% of the sales volume in January-August, which is the highest figure on record in comparison with annual figures. The company intends to deliver large batches of products to Indonesia, India, Algeria, and Serbia. More vehicles are expected to be delivered to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Poland.
