Belarusian BelAZ, Chinese Sangjian plan to create joint venture in China

MINSK, 20 January (BelTA) – The Belarusian heavy truck manufacturer OAO BelAZ and the Chinese company Sanjiang plan to create a joint manufacture in China. These and other matters of promising cooperation were discussed as Belarusian Deputy Industry Minister Pavel Utyupin met with representatives of the agriculture machinery department of China Space Sanjiang Group Corporation, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Industry Ministry.

In September 2016 a memorandum of understanding and long-term cooperation was concluded by the Belarusian Industry Ministry and China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation (CASIC). Within the framework of the document China Space Sanjiang Group Corporation, a subsidiary of CASIC, expressed its interest in cooperation with enterprises accountable to the Belarusian Industry Ministry in a number of areas. A delegation of Sanjiang management arrived in Minsk on 19 January for a more detailed discussion of the ways of further cooperation.

The Chinese colleagues had an opportunity to get familiar with the work of such Belarusian enterprises as BelAZ, Belaruskali, and others and visited the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone.

The Belarusian Industry Ministry noted that Sanjiang is most strongly interested in cooperation with BelAZ. When the memorandum in China was signed, the parties discussed the matters of future cooperation in the development, production, and selling of both heavy-duty haul trucks and underground vehicles. During the negotiations the parties indicated their intention to establish a joint venture in China. Moreover, the Chinese delegation expressed their interest in Belarus-based production of motor boats, automotive components, and laser equipment and in introducing equipment for vehicles powered by natural gas.

As a result of the meeting the parties signed a protocol, which outlines the ways to further mutually beneficial cooperation.
