MINSK, 12 June (BelTA) – Belarus and Uzbekistan have plans to set up joint ventures in pharmaceutics, Chairman of the Council of the Republic of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich told reporters after talks with Uzbekistan's parliamentary delegation led by Speaker of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Nigmatilla Yuldoshev on 12 June, BelTA has learned.
Uzbekistan is interested in expanding cooperation with Belarus in the pharmaceutical industry. “A roadmap has been signed to set up joint ventures to produce medicines in Uzbekistan. The Nativita company has already established operations in the country. We have good prospects ahead,” Mikhail Myasnikovich said.
The MPs pointed to considerable progress in promoting bilateral cooperation in information and communication technology. A Belarusian company is already working on introducing automatic fare collection system in public transport in Uzbekistan. Other projects are also in progress.
A memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Council of the Republic of Belarus and the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan. Nigmatilla Yuldoshev informed that the MPs of the two countries agreed to improve coordination at international and regional interparliamentary organizations and scale up efforts to expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
