MINSK, 13 December (BelTA) – This year's trade between Belarus and Ukraine will be close to $4.5 billion, BelTA learned from the article posted by Ambassador of Belarus in Ukraine Igor Sokol on the embassy's website.

In particular, the ambassador stated that Belarus and Ukraine are important trade partners for each other. This year their bilateral trade turnover is expected to be close to $4.5 billion, roughly 20% up from 2016. Upon instructions of the two presidents the Belarusian side has worked out a roadmap to raise the bilateral trade to at least $8 billion in 2019.

A solid base for future work has been created at the same time. A major exhibition of Belarusian companies is scheduled to take place in Kiev in March 2018. The exhibition will be organized by the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Belarusian company BelInterExpo.

The first Belarusian-Ukrainian forum of regions is scheduled to take place in Gomel in autumn 2018 under the auspices of the two heads of state. Interindustry negotiations in the area of production sector, petrochemical industry, agriculture, power engineering, civil engineering, and healthcare are supposed to take place next year.

As for cooperation in cultural affairs, the organization of Belarusian Culture Days in Ukraine in H1 2018 is already in progress. The Movie Actor Theater-Studio is expected to visit Odessa, Kiev, and Chernigov as part of a tour in January. Other cultural and educational events are being planned, too.
