Belarus' trade with Russia's Omsk Oblast 75% up in January-April

MINSK, 21 June (BelTA) – In January-April Belarus' trade with Russia's Omsk Oblast reached $31.7 million, 75% up from the same period of last year. The information was released during the fourth session of the commission on trade, economic, and investment cooperation between Belarus and Omsk Oblast in Minsk, the press service of the Belarusian Economy Ministry told BelTA.

Belarus' main exports to Omsk Oblast included iron wire made by the Belarusian steel mill BMZ, lifts made by Mogilevliftmash, machines and vehicles made by Gomselmash, Lidselmash, and MAZ. Belarus imported oil products, artificial rubber, tires, carbon, cyclic hydrocarbons, chocolate and other cocoa-containing ready-made foods.

Participants of the session discussed the advancement of cooperation in agribusiness and food industry, shipments of agricultural machines, passenger vehicles, utility vehicles as well as interaction in healthcare and light industry.

Belarusian Deputy Industry Minister Dmitry Korchik noted that mutually beneficial and fruitful cooperation between Belarus and Omsk Oblast had been established in many areas. “I am convinced that our cooperation will only grow stronger every year. We should enable as comfortable conditions as possible for mutual shipments of products, for developing manufacturing cooperation, and for implementing joint projects,” he said.

The Russian delegation was led by Omsk Oblast Vice Governor Vladimir Kompaneishchikov. The delegation also included Natural Resources and Environment Minister Alexander Vinokurov, Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Alexander Kurzanov, Deputy Economy Minister Denis Kushner, and representatives of the Omsk Oblast Industry Ministry, the Omsk city administration, and commercial companies. While in Belarus members of the delegation were made familiar with the operation of Horizont, Atlant, MAZ, Amkodor, and other Belarusian companies.
