Belarus' Trade Ministry to be in charge of anti-monopoly regulation

MINSK, 9 February (BelTA) – The Belarusian Trade Ministry will be responsible for the anti-monopoly regulation in the country, the statement was made at the meeting of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko with Trade Minister Vladimir Koltovich on 9 February, BelTA has learned.

The government has been instructed to submit proposals and prepare a corresponding draft decree regarding the new functions of the ministry.

Vladimir Koltovich told reporters that the Trade Ministry has a lot of inter-agency functions today such as the state regulation and control over pricing, public procurement contracts, the ministry is also in charge of consumer protection and advertizing control.

The Trade Ministry has been supervising the formation of prices for a year. “This work is well organized. The Economy Ministry is expected to pass anti-monopoly and price regulation functions to the Trade Ministry in full,” the minister said.
