Belarus to take part in Gulfood 2018 in Dubai

MINSK, 12 December (BelTA) – A Made in Belarus exhibition will be arranged within the framework of Gulfood, the world's largest annual food trade show, its 23rd edition due in Dubai 18-22 February 2018, BelTA informs with reference to Belinterexpo of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Belarus' exhibition will feature Glubokoye milk canning plant, Kalinkovichi dairy plant, Lida milk canning plant, Oshmiany cheese-making plant, a subsidiary of the Lida milk canning plant, Slonim meat processing plant, Minsk dairy plant No.1, Krasny Pischevik, Bellakt. Applications are still open. The event will be accompanied by professional competitions and business program, in particular, seminars on certification of halal products.

Dozens of countries have confirmed their participation in Gulfood 2018: Argentina, Bahrain, Brazil, Hungary, Germany, Georgia, India, Iran, Canada, Kuwait, Lebanon, Mexico, UAE, Oman, Pakistan, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Syria, Turkey, United States, Ukraine, Uruguay, France, Estonia and others.

The exhibition is popular among food producers and suppliers from around the world, largely due to the fact that the UAE is the key hub in re-export of food products to the Persian Gulf countries and supplies more than 90% of food to Bahrain, Qatar , Kuwait, Oman, and Saudi Arabia. Today, the UAE is the world's third largest re-export market, yielding only to Hong Kong and Singapore. Trade is conducted with more than 220 countries around the world.

According to the Agriculture and Food Ministry, in January-July this year Belarus supplied $436,000 worth of food products to the UAE. Export rose 10 times versus the same period last year. These are mainly dairy products, cheese, and curd cheese. Now specialists are working to open the UAE market for beef and poultry meat. According to the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the UAE Federation of Chambers of Commerce noted the high quality of Belarusian agricultural products and great potential of Belarus in agriculture.

The Made in Belarus exhibition has been organized by the Agriculture and Food Ministry of Belarus, the exhibition operator Belinterexpo of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the United Arab Emirates.

Gulfood ranks among the world's largest annual food expos. In 2017 it featured almost 5,000 companies from 120 countries. The event was attended by over 97,000 visitors from 185 countries. There were 12 Belarusian companies among the exhibitors.
