MINSK, 14 March (BelTA) – Belarus plans to sow 2.4 million hectares with spring crops. The relevant information is contained in the 2017 spring fields works plan available on Belarus' Agriculture and Food Ministry website, BelTA has learned.
According to the plan, in 2017 agricultural organizations will sow 2.441 million hectares with spring crops. Early spring and grain crops will be sown on the area of 937,900 hectares, including leguminous crops on 349,2000 hectares.
In line with the plan, in 2017 Belarus' agriculture sector will require Br3.4 billion. In particular, Br1.681 billion will be allocated for spring field works from January to May.
According to the plan, the funding sources are subventions from the national budget, the local budgets, soft loans and loans on regular terms, and own resources of agricultural enterprises.
In line with the document, in 2017 Belarusian agricultural companies and farmers are supposed to harvest 8.823 million tonnes of crops, including 5.7 million tonnes of forage crops. It is also planned to gather in 1.28 million tonnes of potato, 4.8 million tonnes of sugar beet, 180,000 tonnes of retted straw, 765,000 tonnes of colza oilseed, 528,000 tonnes of vegetables, 125,000 tonnes of fruits and berries, and 8.678 million tonnes of grass forage.
