Belarus to ship €60m worth of grain warehouses to Sudan

MINSK, 18 September (BelTA) – Belarus will ship 17 grain warehouses to the tune of €60 million to Sudan. The contracts were signed by Lidselmash, Selenergoprom and the Agricultural Bank of Sudan on 18 September, BelTA learned from Spokesperson for the Industry Ministry Vladimir Podolyak.

Lidselmash signed a contract to supply eight grain warehouses with the capacity of 50,000 tonnes and four warehouses with the capacity of 25,000 tonnes to the total amount of €32.4 million. Selenergoprom signed contracts to supply five grain warehouses with the capacity of 100,000 tonnes estimated at €27.45 million.

Belarus' Deputy Industry Minister Dmitry Korchik said at the meeting that these contracts are a great step forward in the bilateral cooperation. He added that companies affiliated with the Industry Ministry are ready to supply not only farm machines, but also dump trucks, trucks, passenger vehicles, road construction machines and other machinery to implement major infrastructure and agricultural projects in Sudan.

Director General of the Agricultural Bank of Sudan Salaheldin Hasan Ahmed noted that Sudanese are familiar with Belarusian machinery. “Many economic sectors are experiencing rapid growth in Sudan, therefore we need various machines. More than that, one can supply products of Belarusian industrial companies all over Africa from Sudan,” he emphasized.

The signing ceremony was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Arab Republic of Egypt with concurrent accreditation to the Republic of Sudan Sergei Rachkov and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Sudan to Belarus Nural-Dayem Hamad Al-Neil.

In January-July 2018, companies affiliated with the Industry Ministry of Belarus more than doubled their export to Sudan compared with the same period a year before. The major exporters to Sudan included BMZ, MTZ, BelAZ, BelOMO, Gomselmash and Bobruiskagromash.
