Belarus to sell batch of oil products in transit via Russian ports

GOMEL, 8 December (BelTA) – Belarus has signed a contract on shipping a batch of oil products, which will be transported via Russian ports, BelTA learned from Igor Lyashenko, Chairman of the Belarusian state petrochemical concern Belneftekhim, on the sidelines of a session of the Council of Ministers of the Union State of Belarus and Russia.

The official said: “The principle is the same: our business is on par with math. A Russian customer intends to buy 72,000 tonnes. He will take these volumes in December-January.” The relevant contract on shipping the oil products via Russian ports already exists, noted the Belneftekhim head.

Asked about why the deal is profitable for Belarus, Igor Lyashenko mentioned mutual profits of the sides. “It is an example of standard mutually beneficial cooperation,” he noted.

In 2018 Belarus may export up to 1 million tonnes of oil products via Russian ports, provided the economic terms are gainful.
