Belarus, Slovakia to build optoelectronics factory

BRATISLAVA, 27 April (BelTA) – Belarus and Slovakia intend to build an enterprise to make optoelectronics products, BelTA learned from Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico.

The project can be implemented by the Belarusian holding company BelOMO and the Slovakian company MSM. According to the source, private sector representatives are interested in establishing a joint venture in Slovakia for the sake of developing and making optoelectronics. The fact that the Slovakian and Belarusian prime ministers are involved in discussions about the project represents kind of a guarantee of the project's seriousness, said Robert Fico.

According to Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov, during the meeting on 27 April the sides also discussed the possibility of establishing an enterprise to recycle domestic electric appliances in the town of Orekhovsk, Orsha District, Vitebsk Oblast. Apart from that, the Slovakian side is looking into the possibility of taking part in the construction of the Beshenkovichi hydropower plant on the Zapadnaya Dvina River and the possibility of implementing the project to reconstruct part of the M10 motorway.
