Belarus set to raise $1.45bn in FDI in 2018

MINSK, 16 August (BelTA) – Belarus is projected to raise $1.45 billion in foreign direct investments in 2018, Belarus' Economy Minister Vladimir Zinovsky said while presenting the draft forecast of social and economic development of Belarus in 2018 at the government session, BelTA learned from the press service of the Economy Ministry.

Speaking about investments, the minister noted that the foreign direct investment in Belarus in 2018 might amount to $1.45 billion. They will be primarily used for technological upgrade and transfer of modern technologies to the country. He recalled that every Belarusian regions needs to work hard to raise $100 million in Chinese direct investment

Vladimir Zinovsky emphasized that more than two thirds of total investment in the country will be directed into investment projects in the real economy sector. Other areas, according to the minister, include construction, social and infrastructure projects, including state programs.
