Belarus set to double sales of medicines in Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, 15 May (BelTA) – Belarus has plans to double the sales of Belarusian medicines on the market of Tajikistan, Belarus' Healthcare Minister Valery Malashko said answering a question of a BelTA correspondent.

“We will increase the sales of pharmaceutical products in Tajikistan at least two times as a result of this visit and agreements reached. I think our sales in Tajikistan can reach a million dollars this year,” the minister said.

In his words, Belarus and Tajikistan started cooperating in the field of healthcare a long time ago. “We are working across a number of areas today. Naturally, this involves pharmaceutical industry that has recently made much progress in Belarus, and we are ready to share our experience with Tajikistan. One of the ways to do it is setting up joint ventures,” Valery Malashko said.

“The country is interested in domestic products for many reasons. This allows maintaining an optimal price and entering new markets rather fast. Therefore, at a meeting hosted by the Healthcare Ministry we discussed a possibility to establish joint ventures and to supply Belarusian medicines in bulk, while the packaging will be done in Tajikistan. Now we are actively seeking partners who will be able to implement this project within a short time,” the minister noted.

He added that the parties discussed export of education services, assistance to Tajikistani specialists in post-graduate training, provision of medical services, and introduction of high-tech solutions in healthcare provision.
