Belarus-Ryazan Oblast trade up over 40% in Q1 2017

MINSK, 23 May (BelTA) – In Q1 2017 Belarus and Ryazan Oblast of Russia increased their mutual trade by more than 40% in comparison with the same period last year, Belgospishcheprom Concern told BelTA following the meeting of the joint working group for cooperation between Belarus and Ryazan Oblast.

Opening the meeting, Chairman of Belgospischeprom Alexander Zabello noted that great progress has been made over a short period of intensive cooperation. Despite the trade contraction in 2015 due to some objective reasons, in 2016 the trade went up 12.4%. The growth in Q1 2017 made up 40.1%.

Ryazan Oblast is home to a wide dealer network of Belarusian companies. RyazanMAZservice (MAZ) sells MAZ trucks and provides aftersales service. Starozhilovoagrosnab (MTZ, Amkodor, Gomselmash) sells and provides services to tractors, grain harvesters, road and construction equipment. The dealer Vertikal (Mogilevliftmash) supplies lifting equipment.

The Belarusian branded retail network is represented by seven Milavitsa stores, our Belwest shores, three Galanteya stores.

Belarus' main exports to Ryazan Oblast make up food products, petrochemical products, furniture, equipment and spare parts.

Ryazan Oblast supplies to Belarus its glass, ferrous scrap, frozen fish, processed leather and other products.

The participants of the meeting took note of a big potential in the bilateral development of the foreign economic relations. There are no Ryazan food products on the Belarusian market. The parties are interested in developing cooperation in livestock breeding and the selection of agricultural crops.

Ryazan Oblast businessmen are showing interest in the Belarusian market. The Russkaya Kozha Group of Companies intends to intensify cooperation with the Belarusian light industry.

The Rudo Group of Companies (the leading player on the Russian market of low-alcohol and non-alcohol products) is in talks to organize the production of cider at the Tolochin canning factory.

The meeting also discussed projects in education, healthcare, tourism and culture.
