Belarus, Russia's Lipetsk Oblast boost trade by 50% in January-May 2017

MINSK, 2 August (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia's Lipetsk Oblast increased their mutual trade by more than 50% in January-May 2017, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Ministry.

“Belarus is one of the top trading partners of Lipetsk Oblast. According to statistics, the mutual trade rose by 53.1% in January-May 2017 as against the same period a year earlier and totaled $115 million. Exports amounted to $36 million, and imports made up $79 million,” the press service said.

Belarus' major exports in 2017 include refrigerators, deep freezers and refrigerating equipment, washing machines, domestic electric heaters, electric cookers, polyacetals and polyesters, and trucks. The country also exports to Lipetsk Oblast milk and non-condensed cream, fruit and vegetable juice, mineral and soda water.

Belarus imports from the Russian region flat rolled plain and alloy steel, equipment for agriculture, gardening and forestry, refrigerators, deep freezers and refrigerating equipment, paper and corrugated fiberboard.

Lipetsk hosted a meeting of the working group for cooperation between Belarus and Lipetsk Oblast on 1 August. The Belarusian delegation was led by Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Minister Vladimir Koltovich. The parties discussed ways to further strengthen the bilateral relations.
