Belarus, Russia to organize economic forums abroad together

MINSK, 17 June (BelTA) – The National Center for Marketing and Price Studies of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Russian Export Center have reached an agreement on sharing information and working together to arrange visits and economic forums abroad, including in distant-arc countries, BelTA learned from representatives of the National Center for Marketing and Price Studies.

According to the source, Acting Director of the National Center for Marketing and Price Studies Alexander Zapolsky met with Managing Director for Priority Projects of the Russian Export Center Mikhail Mamonov and Director for Regional Cooperation of the Russian Agency for Export Credit and Investment Insurance (EXIAR) Dmitry Makeyev during the 20th Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). The sides agreed to share information about forthcoming foreign events, including expos, conferences, business visits for the sake of involving representatives of the Belarusian and Russian private sectors in them.

“The agreement is important for diversifying export and for exporting more Belarusian products particularly to the countries, which are not traditional trade and economic partners of Belarus. Speeches made during the forum indicate that export diversification is as important for other participating states. The need to expand the list of countries to establish economic contacts with was the keynote in many speeches,” said Alexander Zapolsky while talking about results of the negotiations.

The official remarked that Belarusian companies take slow steps towards grasping the idea of penetrating little-known markets. “Our experience of organizing business visits and participation in expositions in distant-arc countries testifies to that. We've recently been to Chile and Mexico. Tanzania is next on the list. But the demand for our products is strong over there now. Cooperation with our Russian counterpart — the Russian Export Center — will allow us to better assist Belarusian companies with finding and penetrating new markets,” stated the head of the Belarusian agency.

Belarus' first ever stand has been arranged as part of the investment projects expo Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum. The organizers are the National Center for Marketing and Price Studies of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Agency of Investment and Privatization of Belarus.
