Belarus, Russia to lift restrictions on mutual supply of engineering products

ST. PETERSBURG, 16 June (BelTA) - Belarus and Russia have agreed to lift the restrictions on the mutual supply of engineering products, Belarus Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov told the media after the meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Belarus-Russia Union State, BelTA has learned.

According to Andrei Kobyakov, the participants of the meeting had an informative exchange of opinion on practically all issues of cooperation. “During our bilateral meeting with Dmitry Medvedev we discussed the opportunities to bolster our ties in trade, economy, investment, industry and agriculture. We agreed to continue to strengthen economic cooperation as one of the pillars of the Union State,” the Belarusian head of government said.

According to him, in the economic sphere, the interaction is aimed primarily at deepening the cooperation ties, as well as removing barriers and restrictions in mutual trade to create equal conditions for economic entities. Today we have taken decisions that will enable us to remove mutual constraints on the supply of engineering products,” Andrei Kobyakov noted.

The same applies to the interaction in the agricultural industry. “In order to avoid problems in the supply of agricultural products we will continue effective cooperation and exchange operational information through the sanitary services and the adoption of the necessary measures,” the Belarusian prime minister added.

“For the realization of equal rights of citizens of Belarus and Russia we adopted decisions which will ensure the free movement of citizens of the Russian Federation and Belarus through Russian air checkpoints,” he informed.

“Besides, we reaffirmed the agreement that before being considered by the prime ministers, all the issues that arise will be promptly addressed by the the high-level group of the Union State Council of Ministers chaired by the first vice prime ministers,” Andrei Kobyakov said.

On 16 June, the Council of Ministers of the Belarus-Russia Union State considered 20 issues covering the key cooperation areas. Some of them will be included on the agenda of the meeting of the Supreme State Council that will be held on 30 June.
