VOLOGDA, 13 October (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia are considering the possibility of jointly exporting the MTZ tractors, which are made in Cherepovets, Vologda Oblast, Russia to third countries, BelTA learned from Fyodor Domotenko, Director General of the Belarusian tractor engineering company MTZ, in Vologda on 13 October. The executive took part in the second session of the interregional council on manufacturing cooperation with foreign participation.
The MTZ head said: “The possibility of exporting MTZ tractors, which are made in Vologda Oblast, to non-CIS states is under consideration. I cannot reveal any other details for now. It will be a joint Belarusian-Russian export project.”
The executive also said that there are plans to merge the joint venture, which makes MTZ tractors in Russia's Tatarstan, with the enterprise in Vologda Oblast into a single assembly enterprise.
During the session of the interregional council on manufacturing cooperation Vologda Oblast Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov awarded Fyodor Domotenko a certificate of merit. The governor said: “I would like to personally thank you for your support for the advancement of manufacturing cooperation with Vologda Oblast.”
During the session Belarusian Deputy Industry Minister Alexander Ogorodnikov noted that the experience of manufacturing cooperation between MTZ and Cherepovets Casting and Mechanical Plant can be used as a pilot project for the private sector. “This project is interesting from the economic point of view. The experience can be replicated in other regions of Russia, too,” said the official.
Belarusian and Russian reporters attended the session of the interregional council on manufacturing cooperation as part of the media tour meant to highlight Vologda Oblast as the largest Belarusian-Russian mechanical engineering cluster. The media tour had been organized by the Standing Committee of the Union State of Belarus and Russia and the international news agency Russia Today (RT).
