Belarus resumes cement exports

MINSK, 6 August (BelTA) – Belarus has resumed cement exports, Belarus' Architecture and Construction Minister Anatoly Cherny said in an interview to the STV Channel on 5 August, BelTA informs.

Belarus faced the lack of cement on the domestic market in May-June 2018 due to its volume being almost sold out, the minister said. Importers began to increase the price on the domestic market, and the consumer demand for the Belarusian product, which price did not change, went up. Belarusian enterprises had to reduce the volume of cement supplies for export by 100,000 tonnes to cover the needs of the domestic market. “Today we are resuming export deliveries. The issue has been settled,” he said.

Anatoly Cherny added that the capacity of Belarusian enterprises is sufficient to secure the domestic market consumption.

Speaking about the results of the first half-year period, he noted that the industrial production grew by 5.8%, while the exports accounted for 60% of the output.
