Belarus reports record-high milk per cow production in 2017

MINSK, 22 January (BelTA) – In 2017 Belarus reported a record-high milk production per cow, Natalia Sonich the head of the main directorate for livestock at the Agriculture and Food Ministry, told the media BelTA has learned.

“The agricultural organizations produced almost 7 million tonnes of milk in 2017. The average milk yield per cow exceeded 5 tonnes. Some 49 districts of Belarus passed the mark of 5,000 tonnes. Nesvizh, Grodno, Dzerzhinsk and Smolevichi districts had this figure at more than 7 tonnes per cow. Some 507 agricultural organizations reported the milk yield per cow over 5 tonnes and 10 agricultural organizations had it over 9 tonnes,” Natalia Sonich noted.

Among the milk yield leaders in 2017 were Molodovo Agro (Ivanovo District), a subsidiary of Vitex (Uzda District), Larinovka (Orsha District), Agrokombinat Snov (Nesvizh District). “The leaders had the milk production at more than 10 tonnes per cow,” he said.

Belarus' agricultural organizations plan to reach the annual milk production of more than 9 million tonnes by 2020.
