Belarus registers deflation in August

MINSK, 10 September (BelTA) - In August 2019 the index of consumer prices for goods and services totaled 99.8% as against July 2019 and 102.9% as against December 2018, BelTA learned from the National Statistics Committee of Belarus.

In August 2019 the base index of consumer prices, which does not account for changes in prices for individual goods and services susceptible to administrative and seasonal factors, stood at 100.4% over July 2019 and 102.7% in comparison with December 2018.

In August 2019 food prices inched down by 0.6% from July 2019, and up by 2.2% over December 2018. Non-food prices have not changed since July 2019 when compared with December 2018 they rose by 2.2%. The index of consumer prices for services edged up by 0.3% over July 2019 and totaled 105.1% as against December 2018.
