Belarus ready to take part in food security projects in Arab states

MINSK, 6 November (BelTA) - Belarus is ready to take part in food security projects in the Arab states, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On 6 November 2019 Belarus' Ambassador to Egypt, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Belarus to the League of Arab States Sergei Terentiev met with Dr. Ibrahim Adam Ahmed El-Dukheri, Director General of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development affiliated with the League of Arab States (LAS). The parties reviewed the prospects for practical cooperation between Belarus and Arab countries in agriculture, including possible joint projects in crop production, livestock, irrigation, and dairy production.

“The parties also discussed the prospects for launching the supplies of Belarusian agricultural products and equipment to the countries of the region, for Belarus' participation in food security projects in the Arab states, exchanging the advanced experience and high-performance technologies, and training of highly qualified specialists from Arab countries in Belarusian universities,” the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed.

The parties agreed that a delegation of experts from the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development will come to Belarus to get acquainted with the country's agricultural industry. The goal is to devise a strategy for agricultural cooperation between Belarus and LAS member states and to discuss possible participation of the LAS leadership in the Belagro 2020 international agriculture expo in Minsk.
