MINSK, 15 October (BelTA) – Belarus' experience of implementing public-private partnership projects in the energy sector was presented at a meeting to review the implementation of the OSCE Economic and Environmental Dimension Commitments in Vienna on 15-16 October, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Energy Ministry.
Deputy Energy Minister Vadim Zakrevsky was as keynote speaker of the session on public-private partnerships to promote good governance and innovation in the energy sector. The session was moderated by Belarus Ambassador to Austria, Permanent Representative of Belarus to the OSCE Alena Kupchyna.
Vadim Zakrevsky laid out Belarus' best practices in using the public-private partnership mechanism, including the development of legal framework and institutional environment, with an aim to promote cooperation between government and private organizations, to implement pilot energy projects. The deputy minister urged to focus on people's interests, the Sustainable Development Goals in the process of using the PPP mechanism.
The goal of the meeting was to review of the implementation of commitments of the OSCE member countries in part of the Sustainable Development Goals to ensure universal access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all. Emphasis is placed on the energy sector in the era of digitalization, effective protection of grids from the impact of possible disasters, development of public-private partnerships, the use of renewable energy sources and improving the energy efficiency of the existing energy systems.
