MOSCOW, 30 March (BelTA) – There has been an improvement in the trade between Belarus and Russia, Belarusian Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov said as he met with his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev in the Gorki residence near Moscow on 30 March, BelTA has learned.
“We have an opportunity to once again discuss some complex but very important issues, first of all, in our trade and economic relations. Early this year, we saw good results in our mutual trade. According to our information, in January the trade between Belarus and Russia surged by almost 44% as against January 2016. It is worth noting that there is an upward trend both in Belarus' export to Russia and the supplies of Russian products to Belarus,” Andrei Kobyakov said.
He believes that it is time to adopt additional measures to restore the trade between the two countries to the level recorded several years ago.
“However, there are certain issues to discuss. I hope that we will manage to take some issues that are within the purview of our governments off the agenda of the upcoming meeting of the heads of state,” Andrei Kobyakov stressed.
“We look forward to holding a constructive dialogue and finding mutually beneficial solutions,” the prime minister added.
