Belarus plans to expand range of agricultural exports to China

MINSK, 10 July (BelTA) - Belarus plans to expand the range of agricultural exports to China, Belarus' Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Igor Brylo told the media in Minsk on 10 July, BelTA has learned.

“Plans are in place to expand the range of Belarusian food exports to China. Let me give you an example. Our poultry farms have been certified to supply chicken carcasses to China. Now we are negotiating the supplies of chicken cuts to the Chinese market. We will continue the work in this area,” Igor Brylo said.

A delegation of representatives of several Chinese dairy companies is in Minsk on a visit. On 10 July the Agriculture and Food ministry will host the talks on supplies of Belarusian dairy products to China. “The delegation includes representatives of Olam Shanghai Dairy, one of the world's top 5 dairy traders and a subsidiary of the Singapore Corporation Olam International Ltd., which operates in 70 countries around the world. We are interested in the cooperation with this company. The delegation includes representatives of other dairy companies from China. They will visit Belarusian dairy companies: Slutsk Cheese Factory, Bereza Cheese-Producing Plant, Savushkin Product, Primemilk, Bellakt, Babuskina Krynka, Milkavita. I think this visit will contribute to the development of our cooperation,” Igor Brylo said.

Olam Shanghai Dairy has already purchased Belarusian dairy products. “The quality of Belarusian products is very good. We are satisfied with the price,” a representative of the Chinese company said. “But the requirements to dairy products in Belarus and China are slightly different, for example to packaging, and these issues need to be talked over,” he added.

As of today two Belarusian meat plants, 47 milk processing enterprises and five poultry farms have been certified to supply their products to China. Poultry deliveries are scheduled to begin soon.

According to the latest information , the Belarusian export of agricultural products and food products to China totaled $14.8 million in January-May 2018, up 3.4 times as against the same period a year prior. In January-May 2018 Belarus exported beef worth of $175,200 (not previously supplied), non-condensed milk and cream worth of $460,200 up 2.6 times), condensed milk and cream $6.3 million (7.6 times), whey $2.6 million (2.8 times), and flax worth of $4.38 million (2 times).
