Belarus mulls over dairy exports to Sudan

MINSK, 18 January (BelTA) – Belarus considers launching supplies of its dairy products to the Sudanese market, Alexei Bogdanov, head of the foreign trade department at the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry, told reporters in Khartoum, BelTA has learned.

“We would like to sell to Sudan our dairy products with an extended storage period, including milk powder products, cheeses, and butter,” said the representative of the Agriculture and Food Ministry.

In his words, there are also plans to supply Belarusian poultry.

Another promising area of cooperation is the implementation of joint projects to construct dairy farms and hothouses in Sudan.

Belarus also invites Sudanese specialists to its agricultural universities. “We offer education not only for students but also farmers: extended education: 2-3-week courses at our advanced training institute. Perhaps, we will reach an agreement to build of a farm here,” noted Alexei Bogdanov.

As BelTA reported earlier, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko highlighted the prospects of developing cooperation in the agrarian sector as he spoke at the Sudan parliament in Khartoum on 17 January. “The construction of a demonstration farm can be a pilot project. If you like it, we will train your specialists to build facilities of the kind,” noted the President.
