Belarus mulling over consortium to repair roads in Moldova

CHISINAU, 17 January (BelTA) – Belarus is showing interest in setting up a consortium with the participation of Belarusian companies for the implementation of road repair and road infrastructure construction projects in Moldova, Belarus' Ambassador to Moldova Sergei Chichuk said at the meeting with Minister of Economy and Infrastructure of Moldova Chiril Gaburici, BelTA has learned.

The parties discussed trade and economic cooperation in the transportation area between Belarus and Moldova. Chiril Gaburici praised the evolution of the Belarusian-Moldavian relations and assured in the continuation of initiatives to develop trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

Sergei Chichuk took note of Belarus' interest in setting up a consortium with the participation of Belarusian companies to implement road repair and road infrastructure projects in Moldova. This is achievable thanks to the cooperation between companies of the two states.

The parties also discussed the matters of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two states for the implementation of projects of the Eastern Partnership initiative and also the possibility to develop the Trans-European Transport Networks (TEN-T). The parties talked over the exchange of experience in developing road standards and regulations.

The sides also discussed the possible resumption of direct flights between Belarus and Moldova and the beneficial side of such flights for the citizens of the two states.
