Belarus-Moldova trade up by 10% in January-July 2017

CHISINAU, 12 September (BelTA) – Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Octavian Calmic met with Ambassador of Belarus to Moldova Sergei Chichuk in Chisinau, BelTA has learned.

The sides discussed the ways of fostering the economic relations, promoting the trade between Belarus and Moldova, implementing the investment projects and other aspects of cooperation. The trade and economic relations between the two countries were also on the agenda of the meeting. It was noted that the trade in January-July 2017 increased by 10% as against the same period last year to total $110.47 million.

Sergei Chichuk and Octavian Calmic agreed that the trade and economic relations between Belarus and Moldova have a great potential for growth. The bilateral working groups on industry, agriculture, construction and so on will hold meetings in October-November 2017.

The trade and economic relations between Belarus and Moldova is a good example of the strategic partnership between the two states aimed at implementing mutually beneficial projects, Octavian Calmic said.

Sergei Chichuk, in turn, said that Belarus' delegation will attend the Moldova Business Week Forum due in Chisinau on 3-6 October which is expected to give a new impetus to the bilateral relations, new strategic partnerships between Belarusian and Moldovan companies and new investment projects.

Sergei Chichuk and Octavian Calmic reviewed the cooperation in road and airspace transport services between the two countries including the launch of the direct air service Chisinau-Minsk.
