Belarus, Moldova to implement more joint projects

CHISINAU, 8 June (BelTA-MOLDPRES) – Belarus and Moldova will continue implementing joint projects in bus assembling, supplies of medicines, animal product processing and building plants to process dairy products in Moldova. The corresponding agreement was reached at the 19th meeting of the intergovernmental Belarus-Moldova commission on trade and economic cooperation in Chisinau.

The commission focused its attention on the discussion of trade and economic cooperation in various areas. The parties talked over road infrastructure, transport liberalization, development of scientific, industrial and agro-industrial sectors, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and also investment climate, expansion of bilateral cooperation and trade growth.

“Agreements were reached on four important aspects. We will use financial mechanisms to introduce innovations for the implementation of joint projects in road construction, industry, production of farming equipment, and manufacturing of building materials. Belarus guarantees quality and finances for road construction projects. Trolleybus assembling is a good example of bilateral cooperation. We are ready for a new project to assemble buses. About $400 million will be injected in Moldova-Belarus projects,” said Belarus' Deputy Prime Minister Mikhail Rusy.

Moldova's Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Chiril Gaburici stressed that the activity of the commission would contribute to closer Moldova-Belarus partnership which has great prospects and significant potential for development.

After the talks the parties signed a protocol of the 19th meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation. They also signed a roadmap for the implementation of the bilateral agreement on cooperation in healthcare, a bilateral agreement on cooperation in sci-tech sector, a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the Central Union of Consumer Cooperatives of Moldova and the Belarusian Union of Consumer Societies.

Besides, the parties reached agreements to assemble mini tractors and rotary cultivators, develop cooperation in healthcare, exchange experience in the use of advanced technologies in road construction, and Belarus' participation in Moldova's road construction and reconstruction project.

Belarus is among Moldova's top ten trading partners.
