Belarus looks to expand agricultural cooperation with Hungary

MINSK, 28 September (BelTA) – Belarus seeks to expand cooperation with Hungary in the agricultural sector, First Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Alexander Nakhayenko told media ahead of the Belarusian-Hungarian business forum in Minsk on 28 September, BelTA has learned.

“We plan to expand cooperation with Hungary in the agricultural sector and sign the relevant contracts at the forthcoming forum. We have been cooperating with Hungary for a few years already: buying its seeds and well-bred livestock,” he said.

Hungary's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Laszlo Szabo noted for his part that there are many areas where Hungary is interested in developing cooperation with Belarus. For example, among them is tourism, energy, healthcare, pharmacy services. “We advocate the cooperation between our countries since Belarus is a linking bridge between the East and the West,” the diplomat said. Laszlo Szabo also said that Belarus and Hungary have been actively cooperating at the political and economic levels.

Minsk is hosting the Belarusian-Hungarian forum and business talks between the two countries today. The program of events will include the exploration of cooperation opportunities and the discussion of the implementation of joint projects in construction, industry, financing, interactive software development, healthcare, agriculture, livestock breeding, tourism services (recuperation in Hungary), supplies of energy drinks and food products, acquisition of woodworking products, sales of agricultural machinery, equipment, and technology for the food industry.

The forum has been organized by the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
