Belarus, Iran sign trade facilitation agreement

MINSK, 4 December (BelTA) – An intergovernmental trade facilitation agreement has been signed by Chairman of Belarus' State Customs Committee Yuri Senko and Head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration Mehdi Mirashrafi, BelTA learned from the State Customs Committee.

The document was approved during the session of the Policy Commission of the World Customs Organization in Seoul (Republic of Korea). The agreement sets forth the main principles of exchanging information about movement of goods and vehicles within data exchange capabilities of the customs authorities of the two states and in line with the norms, standards and recommendations of the United Nations, the World Customs Organization, national legislation, and taking into consideration the world's best practices.

“The implementation of the norms stipulated by the agreement will make bilateral trade easier and more efficient and will also make customs checks faster. This, in turn, will help boost trade between Belarus and Iran and simplify foreign trade operations for domestic companies,” the State Customs Committee informed.
