Belarus industry ministry's companies boost exports in January-August 2018

MINSK, 21 September (BelTA) - The exports of the enterprises affiliated with the Belarusian Industry Ministry rose by 19.7% in January-August of 2018 as against the same period a year earlier, Belarus' First Deputy Industry Minister Gennady Svidersky told a press conference in Minsk on 21 September, BelTA has learned.

"In January-August of 2018 the industrial output expanded by 14.1%. The average monthly output increased to more than Br1.2 billion. Traditionally, the bulk of products was exported. In January-August of 2018 the exports exceeded $3 billion, which was up by 19.7% compared to the same period a year prior. I hope this trend will continue in the future," Gennady Svidersky said.

Speaking about the geography of exports, the first deputy minister noted that this year the list of countries remained the same. "Russia is the main market for engineering products. We also export to the EU and far abroad. BelAZ has added new destinations to its list of sale markets," Gennady Svidersky said.

He also emphasized that in August the warehouse stocks of the enterprises affiliated with the Industry Ministry were less than the monthly average output.

According to Gennady Svidersky, Belarusian Steel Works (BMZ trademark) is one of the most successful enterprises. "Earlier the BMZ annual export exceeded $1 billion. This year they achieved this figure already in early September. The export has increased significantly thanks to the upgrade programs, the focus on engineering products. We hope this trend will remain in place by the end of the year," Gennady Svidersky said.

He also lauded Mogilevliftmash and BelAZ which produced a dump truck with the carrying capacity of 290 tonnes. Minsk Tractor Works has been successfully working on an autonomous tractor. The upgrade project at BelOMO Holding Company is nearing completion.
