Belarus in talks on cooperation with foreign agrarians during International Green Week in Berlin

MINSK, 19 January (BelTA) – A Belarusian delegation led by Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Igor Brylo is taking part in events of the food and agriculture expo International Green Week 2018 in Berlin on 18-21 January. The delegation was invited by German Food and Agriculture Minister Christian Schmidt, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA.

International Green Week is the world's largest forum in the area of agriculture and food. About 1,600 exhibitors from Germany and over 70 other countries have put their products on display in an area as large as 125,000m2. Over 400,000 people are expected to visit the expo.

The Belarusian delegation took part in the opening ceremony and held a number of bilateral meetings. In particular, Igor Brylo met with Christian Schmidt. The sides discussed future cooperation prospects, including food and veterinary security. The head of the Belarusian delegation also invited the German food and agriculture minister to visit Belarus and take part in the international annual expo Belagro.

Igor Brylo also met with top officials of the agriculture ministries of Bulgaria and Georgia and with European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety Vytenis Andriukaitis. Matters concerning bilateral cooperation and regional cooperation in agricultural affairs were discussed in detail during the meetings.

A protocol on internship programs for students of Belarusian agricultural universities in Germany was signed with the German Food and Agriculture Ministry on the sidelines of the forum.

The head of the Belarusian delegation is also expected to make a speech during the Berlin Agriculture Ministersґ Conference 2018, which will be dedicated to the development of sustainable, responsible and effective animal husbandry of the future. Igor Brylo will present Belarus' approaches to the development of this branch of agriculture.
