Belarus harvests half of areas under crops

MINSK, 11 August (BelTA) - A total of 1,008,700 hectares, or 51.1%, of areas under crops, have been harvested in Belarus so far, BelTA learnt from the Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of 11 August, Belarus' grain harvest exceeded 3.979 million tonnes. Brest Oblast harvested more than 1.014 million tonnes, Minsk Oblast – 893,500 tonnes. Gomel Oblast and Grodno Oblast cropped 647,900 and 695,700 tonnes each. The harvest of Mogilev Oblast reached 464,600 tonnes, Vitebsk Oblast – 263,100 tonnes.

As of today, Brest Oblast remains the leader: the region has cropped 81.8% of the total area.

This year, the average yield makes up 35.9 centners per hectare.
