Belarus harvests 2.8 million tonnes of grain

MINSK, 8 August (BelTA) - Belarusian agrarians have already cropped almost 2.8 million tonnes of grain, BelTA learnt from the Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of 8 August, Belarus' grain harvest reached almost 2.8 million tonnes. Brest Oblast harvested 814,100 tonnes, Gomel Oblast – 538,200 tonnes. Minsk Oblast and Mogilev Oblast cropped 580,100 and 284,000 tonnes each. The harvest of Grodno Oblast reached 464,200 tonnes, Vitebsk Oblast – 113,800 tonnes.

A total of 786.600 hectares, or 34.8%, of areas under crops have been harvested in the country. As of today, Brest Oblast remains the leader: the region has cropped 65.3% of the total area.

This year, the average yield makes up 35.5 centners per hectare.
