Belarus harvests 1.5 million tonnes of grain

MINSK, 4 August (BelTA) - Belarusian agrarians have already cropped over 1.5 million tonnes of grain, BelTA learnt from the Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of 4 August, Belarus' grain harvest exceeded 1.5 million tonnes. Brest Oblast harvested 541,000 tonnes, Gomel Oblast – 404,200 tonnes. Minsk Oblast and Mogilev Oblast cropped 263,500 and 100,800 tonnes each. The harvest of Grodno Oblast reached 225,900 tonnes, Vitebsk Oblast – 14,510 tonnes.

A total of 448.700 hectares, or 19.9%, of areas under crops have been harvested in the country. As of today, Brest Oblast is the leader: the region has cropped 44.3% of the total area.

This year, the average yield makes up 34.5 centners per hectare.
