MINSK, 2 August (BelTA) - Belarusian agrarians have cropped the first million tonnes of grain, BelTA learnt from the Agriculture and Food Ministry.
As of 2 August, Belarus' grain harvest exceeded 1 million tonnes. Brest Oblast harvested 399,600 tonnes, Gomel Oblast – 318,900 tonnes. Minsk Oblast and Mogilev Oblast cropped 136,900 and 35,300 tonnes each. The harvest of Grodno Oblast agrarians reached 120,800 tonnes, Vitebsk Oblast – 3,1600 tonnes.
A total of 13.3% of areas under crops have been harvested in the country. As of today, Brest Oblast is the leader: the region has cropped 33.2% of the total area.
This year, the average yield makes up 33.7 centners per hectare.
