Belarus' harvest exceeds 2.5m tonnes of grain

MINSK, 7 August (BelTA) - Belarusian agrarians have already cropped over 2.5 million tonnes of grain, BelTA learnt from the Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of 7 August, Belarus' grain harvest exceeded 2.5 million tonnes. Brest Oblast harvested 757,000 tonnes, Gomel Oblast – 525,000 tonnes. Minsk Oblast and Mogilev Oblast cropped 493,100 and 237,600 tonnes each. The harvest of Grodno Oblast reached 414,800 tonnes, Vitebsk Oblast – 79,000 tonnes.

A total of 708.600 hectares, or 31.4%, of areas under crops have been harvested in the country. As of today, Brest Oblast remains the leader: the region has cropped 60.9% of the total area.

This year, the average yield makes up 35.4 centners per hectare.
