Belarus' Gomel Oblast increases exports to African continent

GOMEL, 31 July (BelTA) – Companies of Belarus' Gomel Oblast increase supplies to the markets of the African continent, Gomel Oblast Vice Governor Andrei Konyushko told the media ahead of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee session.

In January-May 2018, the growth of exports of goods and services to the region (excluding oil, oil products and national organizations) amounted to 109.3% and 108.1% respectively. “The share of supplies to the African continent has increased: the first batches of our dairy products went to Sudan. Togo is showing interest in our products, too,” said Andrei Konyushko.

The companies of Gomel Oblast are also developing the markets of Indonesia and other Asian countries. “The exports to new markets accounts for almost 2% at present,” Andrei Konyushko added. The exports to China increased almost 1.5 times.

The exports include a wide variety of products: from heavy metals to foodstuffs. Andrei Konyushko stressed that the companies are busy with fulfilling their main task, which is to equal exports supplies to the EU, the CIS and non-CIS countries by 2020.
